Sarah Colby Spain is an American sports reporter. Spain works as an espnW.com columnist, Radio host, television personality, and SportsCenter reporter for ESPN. Previously, she worked at WGN-TV show alongside Ted Brunson and Brittney Payton as the co-host of the show.
Spain was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in Lake Forest, Illinois. She went to school at Lake Forest High School, where she was the captain of her track and field, field hockey, and basketball teams. Later on, Sarah attended Cornell University, where she majored in English. Sarah was also a heptathlete for the field team and Cornell Big Red track.
Sarah started her journalism career by working on various stations like MouthpieceSports.com, Fox Sports Net, and ChicagoNow.com. She also worked as a sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network and hosted the Coors Light Fantasy Players Minute. ESPN announced on January 2015, that they were launching a radio show which would be called Spain & Prim which includes Spain and anchor Prim Siripipat as co-hosts. Afterward, Spain together with Kate Fagan and Jane McManus began a radio program called ‘The Trifecta’.In addition, she began her own ESPN podcast, That’s What She Said, which was launched the following year.
Moreover, Spain also appeared on a variety of ESPN television shows like His & Hers, Olbermann, Mike & Mike, The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, First Take, The Sports Reporters, and Outside The Lines. Sarah made her first appearance on ESPN’s Around the Horn in February 2016. After some months, she signed in a new multi-year deal with ESPN and launched a national ESPN Radio show, Izzy & Spain, with co-host Israel Gutierrez. In the following year, she hosted Fantasy Football Island with Mike Golic Jr.
Additionally, Spain also launched the national radio show Spain & Fitz together with co-host Jason Fitz. In 2019 Jason left and joined the morning show which was renamed Spain & Company. However, after a year he returned to the Spain & Fitz show which was remodified to its early name as the co-host of the evening broadcast. Most recently, Spain joined the women’s soccer team’s ownership group.
