Sean McLaughlin Biography
Sean McLaughlin is an American 10 pm newscast anchor and previously the Chief Meteorologist at the Phoenix Arizona KPHO CBS 5. McLaughlin was chief meteorologist for MSNBC prior to this tenure in Phoenix, joining the United States-based 24-hour cable news television network in July 2004.
McLaughlin graduated from Iowa State University, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. In addition, he holds a degree from Mississippi State University in meteorology.
Sean, a nine-time Emmy award nominee, works for CBS 5 as the weeknight news anchor. In 2006, this multi-skilled broadcast journalist joined the CBS 5 News team. He served as MSNBC’s weekday primary meteorologist and Sunday weather anchor on NBC’s “Weekend TODAY” with Lester Holt and Campbell Brown prior to his return to the Valley.
Sean’s co-anchor CBS5 News lives every weekend at 5, 5:30, 6:30, and 10 pm. He designs, pitches, and writes news reports on a regular basis and collaborates with producers on live, story-telling elements for each newscast. McLaughlin is very active on social media, posting on the web platforms of my own personal accounts as well as the station.
