Seth Doane Biography
Seth Doane is an American television journalist who presently works for CBS News. He is a Peabody Award-winning CBS News reporter who has been chosen correspondent for 60 Minutes’ new streaming program “60 in 6.”
When CBS announced the news in March 2020, 60 Minutes Executive Producer Bill Owens commented, “Seth has covered some of the most important stories of the previous decade, and I can’t wait for him to start reporting for ’60 in 6.”
Seth was a regular contributor to CBS Sunday Morning, and his employment as a correspondent was revealed by CBS News in early 2020. “Seth is a terrific fit for “Sunday Morning,” according to CBS Sunday Morning executive producer Rand Morrison. His reporting is clever and sensitive, and he has a distinct style that he applies to each topic.”
Doane was also part of the CBS News Sunday Morning team that won the 2020 News Emmy Award for “Outstanding News Special” for “A Sunday Morning In Florence,” a special program from Florence, Italy. Doane, who is based in Rome, Italy, provided three unique sections to the Emmy-winning broadcast.
Seth started his career as a field producer at WNYW, the Fox station in New York City. The high-school TV network Channel One News then promoted him to news anchor, taking him to San Salvador, Indonesia, Iran, Afghanistan, and Sudan to report stories.
Doane was hired as a special video news correspondent for South Asia, including India, by CNN in April 2006. He worked for CNN in New Delhi until June of 2007.

Seth joined CBS News as a national correspondent in August 2007, covering domestic affairs. In 2008, he began covering “The Other America,” a series about the effects of the economic downturn on individuals and families. He’s also a regular contributor to CBS News Sunday Morning.
Seth was located in Beijing, China, from April 2013 until March 2016, covering Asian events for CBS News. He has been located in Rome since April 2016, covering Europe, Africa, and the Middle East for CBS News.
