Somara Theodore is an American Emmy Award-winning meteorologist who is currently working as a meteorologist for the NBC4 Channel in Washington. She airs her forecasts during the weekends on NBC4 Channel News and on 103.5 WTOP Radio. Theodore joined NBC4 News Channel in 2016 from ABC-Affiliated WEWS-TV, in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, she worked on The Good Morning Cleveland Newscast as their morning meteorologist.
Somara attended and graduated from Penna State University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and a Minor in Energy Business & finance. She also holds a minor in Mandarin from Penn State University. While in college, she conducted research with NOAA’s Central for Atmospheric Science at Howard University and participated in a field study where she acted as a Field Researcher in Shanghai, Beijing, China.
Somara has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland in College Park, Virginia. In addition, she has worked on WJCL ABC as a weekend meteorologist. She also worked at The Weather Channel in Atlanta as an Operational Graphics Intern. She has also been a weather intern at WGCL, the CBC affiliate station in Atlanta.
