Stephanie Ready is an American broadcaster for NBA on TNT and was formerly a broadcaster for NBA Charlotte Hornets. Before she embarked on her broadcasting career, Ready was a basketball coach where she gained recognition as the first female coach of a men’s professional league team in 2001.

After her job as a head coach at the NBA Development League, Stephanie was a part of Hornets’ broadcasts for over a decade, including stints as the first full-time female NBA game analyst.

During her university years, Coppin State athletic director Ron Mitchell urged Stephanie to halt her graduate school and focus on coaching. He then hired her to coach the women’s volleyball team. This was two weeks before the start of the season and was one of the youngest Division 1 volleyball coaches in the country.

After the first attempt, Ron called upon Ready again to assist him on the bench for Coppin State’s men’s basketball team. Through this, Stephanie became the third woman to ever coach Division 1 men’s basketball after Jennifer Johnston of Oakland University in Michigan, and Bernadette Mattox, who coached at the University of Kentucky from 1990 to 1995.

Before her resignation from Coppin State University in August 2001, Stephanie had received an endorsement from Mitchell to the NBA Development League. Between 2001 and 2003, she worked as an assistant coach for the now-defunct Greenville Groove of the National Basketball Development League. In 2004, Ready started as a Bobcat’s sideline reporter and by 2006, Ready was working as a sideline reporter during the first and second rounds of the Women’s Final Four of college basketball for ESPN2.

Moreover, she was a part-time sideline reporter for TNT during the 2006 and 2007 NBA playoffs, and the WNBA Playoffs on ESPN2 during 2006. On August 27, 2015, Stephanie was named an analyst, becoming the first full-time female NBA game analyst. In 2018, she moved to work for Turner Sports.
