Ty Pennington Biography
Ty Pennington is an American television host, artist, carpenter, author, and former model and actor. He rose to prominence with his role as carpenter on the TLC home improvement reality show Trading Spaces (2000-2003), and continued when he hosted the ABC reality series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2003 – 2012). Subsequently, he won two Primetime Emmy Awards.
After the show ended in 2012, Burton went on to host ABC’s short-lived talk show The Revolution in 2012, TNT’s On the Menu opposite Emeril Lagasse in 2014, and The Food Network’s American Diner Revival opposite Amanda Freitag from 2015 to 2016. Pennington’s involvement in the revival of Trading Spaces, which premiered on TLC on April 7, 2018, was announced on September 13, 2017.
He attended Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia. After high school, he went to Kennesaw State University, where he received a diploma in commercial art from The Art Institute of Atlanta, and then went to Atlanta College of Art while working as a carpenter. Pennington got an honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from the Savannah College of Art and Design shortly after the finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
