Woodrow Tracy Harrelson is an Emmy award-winning American actor and playwright. He rose to fame in his role as bartender Woody Boyd on the NBC sitcom Cheers, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award. Throughout his career, he has received many accolades for his work which includes two Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Academy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards.
Harrelson was born and raised in Midland, Texas, United States. He received his education at The Briarwood School before transferring to Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Ohio. After high school, he enrolled at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana, where he studied theater and English. Tracy graduated from the college in 1983and while there he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
