Danny DeVito is an American actress, comedian, producer, and filmmaker. In the television series Taxi (1978–1983), which earned him the Golden Globe Award and the Emmy Award, he gained notoriety for his portrayal of the taxi dispatcher Louie De Palma. On the FX and FXX sitcoms It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2006–present), he plays Frank Reynolds.
When he was 14 years old, he convinced his father to send him to boarding school to “keep him out of trouble” and graduated from the Oratory Preparatory School in Summit, New Jersey, in 1962. He was educated at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where he graduated in 1966. In his early days at the theatre, he performed with the Colonnades Theater Lab at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut.
