Butch Stearns Biography
Butch Stearns is an American television and radio personality who is also a former sports anchor for WFXT and radio host for WEEI-FM, both located in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended and graduated from Braintree High School. Later on, he attended Stonehill College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
His first job in television was as a producer for Bob Gamere on WLVI-TV’s Sunday night Weekend Scoreboard. He moved to Minnesota in 1992. There he worked for KAAL-TV and as a sports anchor and producer for weekday sportscasts. He also hosted The Point After. From 1994-to 1996, he worked for PASS Sports in Detroit.
He returned to Boston in 1996 as a sports reporter for WABU. While there, he was the field reporter for Boston Red Sox games. He was also the host of the Emmy award-winning 68 Sportsnight. In September 1999, he joined WFXT. He joined as a sports reporter and weekend anchor. Later on, in 2001, he was promoted to main sports anchor. In December 2004, he made an appearance on the NFL on Fox as a sideline reporter for New England Patriots.
On November 1, 2009, he was notified that his contract with Fox 25 would not be renewed. Although he took a substantial pay cut, he returned to Fox 25 in the Fall of 2014. He returned as a temporary replacement.
His first experience in radio came at WDFN in Detroit Michigan. He was at this station from July 1994 to January 1996. While there, he hosted The Morning Battery. After working as a part-time employee at WEEI, he joined WNRB radio as the host of Patriots Monday. He was also the play-by-play announcer for the New England Revolution. Currently, he serves as the host of WEEI-FM’s Saturday afternoon show.
