Ali attended Dana Hall School for Girls in Wellesley, Massachusetts before joining Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York to study drama. Afterward, she graduated from New York University.

Ali began her acting career in the 1992-1994 Fox sketch comedy series In Living Color, where she was known for impressions of Cher, Amy Fisher, Hillary Clinton, Princess Diana, Brooke Shields, Lisa Marie Presley, Sharon Stone, and other characters. She recurred as Candy Cane, a deranged kids’ show host who had had a string of bad relationships with her male coworkers, and the promiscuous teenage daughter of Grandpa Jack McGee (Jim Carrey) on The Dysfunctional Home Show.
Wentworth made correspondent appearances on The Tonight Show alongside Jay Leno and The Oprah Winfrey Show. “In 1995, in the unforgettable “Soup Nazi” episode of Seinfeld, Wentworth played Jerry Seinfeld’s girlfriend Sheila (“Schmoopie”). She also had a recurring role in the Warner Bros. (WB) series Felicity and also co-hosted the Living It Up! syndicated talk show in 2003, With Jack Ford with Ali & Jack.
