Alicia Malone is an American reporter, TV Host, Producer, Writer, and Editor who currently hosts Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and FilmStruck. Malone is also a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association. She drew attention to hosting movie-centric shows and reviewing films on all of the major TV channels in Australia.
Malone developed a love for film at a very young age. She graduated from Canberra Girls Grammar School in Deakin, Australian Capital Territory. While in school she created a Film Club and elected herself President. Eventually, the School Principal asked her not to get up in the assembly to talk about movies.
After graduating high school, she moved to Sydney and got a job at a video store. There she advised customers of the correct movie choices, whether it was asked for or not. Later, she scored a position at the TV station Channel Seven. She stayed there for 6 years in a variety of production roles.
After responding to an ad for a job at cable TV station Movie Network Channels, she took up a role as host, producer, and editor. There she created and fronted several movie-related shows, including Movie Juice and Premiere, and hosted live red carpet events. She was also seen weekly on the national breakfast show The Morning Show as their movie expert.
In late 2010 she quit everything, packed two suitcases, and moved to Hollywood to chase her dreams in the film capital. Since living in Los Angeles, she has worked steadily as a freelance film journalist and critic. Currently, she is a host of Turne Classic Movies.
