Allyson Rae Biography
Allyson Rae is an America Certified Broadcast Meteorologist who is currently serving as the chief meteorologist at NBC2 in Fort Myers, Southwest Florida. Rae comes in to replace Robert Van Winkle who has held the position since 2003 through his retirement in 2017. Prior to joining NBC2, Allyson worked for three years at a CBS affiliate in Washington D.C.
Rae considers Fort Meyers her home just as she is a native of Pittsburgh. She attended Penn State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. Allyson then started work at KNOE-TV8 as a weekend meteorologist, working for 2 months (May 20017-June 2007).
In June 2007, she got a chance to work at WSFA 12 News, taking the position of meteorologist. Rae served the station for 3 years and 4 months, leaving the station in September 2010.
In October 2010, Allyson joined WZVN ABC7 to work as a morning meteorologist. She worked for 4 years until October 2014 when she left the station to join WUSA-TV. At WUSA-TV, Rae served for 3 years as the morning meteorologist through October 2017.
It is in October 2017 when Rae joined NBC2 in Fort Myers, Florida to serve as the Chief Meteorologist. She came to replace Robert Van Winkle who held the position since 2003. Van Winkle left for his retirement in 2018 and Rae holds his position up to date.
