Amanda Ruiz is a renowned American journalist who is currently working as a multimedia journalist for Fox 7 News in Austin, Texas since January 2020. Prior to joining Fox 7 News, Amanda worked as a reporter for the NBC affiliate in Lubbock, Texas. At the station, she began as a reporter and was eventually promoted to join the news station’s investigative team.
Amanda was born and raised in New York City and joined Saint Vincent Ferrer High School. She then attended Penn StateUniversity where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science.
At college, Ruiz worked as a reporter and control room operator for PSN-TV in Unversity Park. After spending 9 months at the station, Amanda moved to State College, Pennsylvania where she served as a producer, reporter, and anchor for WPSU Center County Report.
After her graduation from Penn State University, Amanda joined ABC 27 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to work as a news reporter intern. In December 2017, Ruiz landed her first broadcasting job at KCBD-TV in Lubbock, Texas as a reporter and multi-media journalist.
Two years later, Amanda joined Fox 7 Austin as a reporter and multimedia journalist where she works up to date. When Ruiz is not on the screens, she will be exploring all Austin has to offer! She loves to hike, spend time with friends, and loves trying new things.
