Amber Sullins Biography
Amber Sullins is an American meteorologist who is currently working as a chief meteorologist for ABC15. She anchors weather nightly on ABC15 newscasts and continually updates the most accurate Valley forecast on ABC15.com and ABC15 Mobile. Most notably, she joined the station in September 2009 but has spent most of her life in the Southwest.
Born in Phoenix, she fell in love with the monsoon from a young age which led to her pursuing a career in Meteorology. Amber studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science with a double minor in Math and Journalism. In addition, she has earned the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation seal.
While at the university, she worked at the National Weather Service and has stayed connected to her alma mater by currently serving on the advisory board for the Hydrology and Atmospheric Science Department. Her career however began at KVIA-TV in El Paso, Texas.
Amber was honored with two Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Awards for Best Weathercasts in 2007 and 2008. In addition, she was recognized again at the Texas Legislature for these awards in May of 2009 when a house resolution was passed in her honor. She is also a 5-Time Emmy Award Winner and was honored in 2010, 2013, and 2014 with the Rocky Mountain Emmy Beast Weathercaster.
