Amy Viteri Emmy Award-winning American journalist currently working as an investigative reporter at WPLG-TV Local 10 News channel. She joined the station in September of 2015. Viteri enjoys uncovering issues affecting South Florida communities. Amy is a native of the Washington, D.C., area, and she’s thrilled to be back in South Florida.
Vitera earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish literature at George Washington University. She then worked abroad in London and Madrid before receiving her Master of Arts in broadcast journalism at the University of Miami. Go ‘Canes!
Prior to coming to Miami, Viteri served as a reporter at WSB-TV in Atlanta. While there, she partnered with Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta to cover stories that usually helped police make arrests. In addition, she covered exclusively the largest crackdown in Georgia history involving tax experts accused of theft.
Furthermore, before coming to Atlanta, Vitera served in Nashville, Tennessee. While there, she covered the shooting death of NFL quarterback Steve McNair. She began her career as a Spanish-language reporter for Telemundo’s affiliate in Washington. Before that, she also worked as a writer and segment producer at WJLA-TV in D.C.
Similarly, Vitera is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She’s aspiring to get involved in the South Florida community and assist in sharing this community’s stories.
