Anna Torv is an Australian actress. She is popular for portraying the roles of Olivia Dunham on the Fox science fiction series Fringe, Wendy Carr in the Netflix crime thriller series Mindhunter, and Tess in the HBO post-apocalyptic drama series The Last of Us (2023). Her performance in Fringe earned her four Saturn Awards for Best Actress on Television.
Born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Anna attended All Saints Anglican School and Benowa State High School, where she graduated in 1996. Afterward, Anna enrolled at the National Institute of Dramatic Art where she graduated with a performing arts degree in 2001. Torv started acting in 2003 when she appeared playing the role of Ophelia in John Bell’s production of Hamlet. In the following year, she joined the cast of Australia’s acclaimed television drama The Secret Life of Us, playing Nikki Martel.
Torv has recorded a series of audiobook collections, including Little Fingers, Jack’s Owl, Spike, and Maddy in the Middle, and later voiced Nariko in the 2007 video game Heavenly Sword. In addition, she also appeared in the BBC series Mistresses in 2008. Five years later, Torv was seen in the American television series Fringe where she portrayed the role of Agent Olivia Dunham. After the release of the series, she was awarded in 2009 and also nominated five times for the Saturn Award for Best Television Actress from 2009 to 2013.
