Austin Love is an American journalist working as a weekday morning reporter at WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the station in April 2018. Despite being a newcomer to Northern Ohio, he has quickly found some of the best of what the area has to offer. This includes good food, recreation, breweries, and friendly people.
A Rockford native, Austin got his first taste of television in Mr. Phad’s broadcast journalism classes at Boylan Catholic High School. Austin then went to the University of Iowa where he graduated with a degree in Communication Studies and Entrepreneurship. It was here that he found his passion for storytelling. While in Iowa, Austin worked for the Daily Iowan, ESPNU, Big Ten Network, and WFLA.
Prior to coming to Cleveland, he worked at his hometown station WREX. He ended up winning two Emmy Awards and an Associated Press Award as a morning anchor and reporter. Throughout his career, he has covered a wide range of stories. He covered the destruction of Hurricane Harvey in Huston.
With every story he tells, Austin’s goal is to tells it giving a voice to the unsung heroes in the community. Recently, Austin became a member of the Real Men Wear Pink initiative. The main goal of the initiative is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer through the American Cancer Society.
