Elizabeth Mowins is a renowned American sports commentator and play-by-play announcer for ESPN, CBS, and Sports Network. In 2021, she became the first woman to call play-by-play for an NBA game on network TV. Moreover, Mowin joined ESPN in 1994 and has been working for the network since then. Previously, she served for three years as a sports director and newscaster for WXHC-FM Radio in Homer, New York. Apart from that, she is also a member of the Lafayette College Maroon Club Hall of Fame.

She attended high school at North Syracuse High School in North Syracuse, New York, where she used to play basketball, softball, and soccer. After that, she enrolled at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where she become the captain of the varsity basketball team for two seasons. While there, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1989 before later furthering her study at Syracuse University. There she received a Master’s degree in broadcast and digital journalism.

Soon after her graduation, she was hired as sports director and newscaster for WXHC-FM Radio in Homer, New York. Three years later, Mowins left and joined ESPN in 1994. There she was in charge of covering college sports news such as soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, and softball. She also becomes a member of the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. Moreover, she also worked with Cat Whitehill on ESPN’s tertiary broadcast team for the telecasts of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. In 2015, Elizabeth became the play-by-play voice for Oakland and later Las Vegas Raiders pre-season TV broadcasts.

Furthermore, Beth also worked as the play-by-play announcer on the late coverage of ESPN’s Monday Night Football opening week for the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers in 2017.
