Bill Johnson Biography

Bill Johnson is an American Christian minister, evangelist, itinerant speaker, author, and the senior pastor of Bethel Church in Redding, California, the United States of America. He is a familiar face to many as he has been appearing on television segments aired on the Christian Broadcasting (CBN) and Trinity Broadcasting networks, on Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural, and in some faith-based documentaries.

Bill has seen his church grow from 2000 members when he joined in 1996 to currently over 12,000. He has taken public conservative positions on same-sex marriage, abortion, open borders, and many other topics.

Bill Johnson Early Life

Johnson went to John Wimber’s Signs and Wonders conference in 1987 with a definite aim in mind: to investigate if healing could be revived. He left frustrated because he believed John Wimber was preaching the same things, but the outcome was significantly different. According to Johnson, this disappointment led to the insight that faith required risk and that it was only after this realization that healing miracles began to occur.

Moreover, in 1995, he went to several of the Toronto Blessing revival gatherings in Toronto, Canada. At these sessions, Johnson claims to have received a fresh touch from God, prompting him to devote his life’s work to pursue the Holy Spirit and the Spirit’s gifts.

Johnson founded the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in 1998 with Bethel Senior Associate Leader Kris Vallotton to train understudies to become Pentecostals.

Johnson is a fifth-generation clergyman who has served as Senior Pastor of Bethel Church since 1996. He is noted for leading a congregation and Christian development that is oriented on searching for the Holy Spirit’s blessings and manifestations in everyday life, for the simple reason that God is wonderful.
