On January 16, 2017, he rejoined Fox News as ‘The Five’ co-host. On May 19, 2017, Beckel got fired again from Fox News. He was fired for allegedly making an ‘insensitive remark’ to an African American employee.

Besides being a member of the football team, he has also worked in the presidential campaign of Robert F. Kennedy. After he graduated from college in 1971, he worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines.
