Bre-Z (born Calesha Murray) is an American actress and rapper famous for her role as Tamia “coop” Cooper in the American series, All American. She is also known for her role as Freda Gatz in Empire. Born in Philadelphia, she decided that she wanted to pursue music in sixth grade.
She graduated high school in 2005 and then attended Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. In 2008, she moved to Atlanta for her new job. She began cutting hair at the age of 10, and her family has a history of being barbers with her grandfather, father, and mother all working as barbers.
When she was working as a barber, she got a chance to cut hair for Akon and Ludacris. In 2014, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a musician. Later on, she began writing songs with Dr. Dre, Jennifer Lopez, and The Game.
When she was moving to Los Angeles, Bre-Z was 24 years old at the time. She was the grand marshal of the Xavier University homecoming parade in 2018. In the same year, she was cast as Tamia Cooper in All American. Her role as Cooper has been praised as breaking barriers for the LGBTQ community.
