Brent Cameron Biography
Brent Cameron is an American meteorologist who is currently serving as the weekend meteorologist for WSVN’s 7 News. He is a member of the National Weather Association.
Cameron has always been watchful to update you on the weather conditions when you need it most. He will calmly direct you through stormy weather and help you get prepared. He is always mindful of marine weather since the south Floridians are often boating. Moreover, cruise passengers from the port of Miami or Port Everglades often check their forecasts for tide information.
Cameron joined WSVN in the summer of 1999, making for a decade of service in the 7 Weather Center! He vividly remembers preparing to relocate to Miami.
“A friend told me I had it made,” he recalls, “this job would be in paradise and forecasting would be as predictable as it gets in the weather.”
His forecast experience covers a variety of weather from the Mountains to the ocean waters, with lots of volatile flatlands in between. He started his forecasting career in western Montana where he was hired by KPAX-TV, Missoula, as the primary weather anchor in 1994.
A year later, Cameron switched to work for WPTA-TV in Ft Wayne Indiana, near Wabash his hometown. He spent five years at the station racking tornadoes while monitoring wild weather extremes in the Midwest. He then got a chance to work in Miami, leaving the station after several years of excellent service.

In 2003, Brent returned to Indiana to join the largest weather team in the nation at WTHR in Indianapolis. This happened in a separate studio that housed a 24-hour weather station called “SkyTrak”. They tracked thunderstorms and snowstorms continuously for hours (on-air), from Illinois to Ohio. After some time, Cameron missed Florida and returned to work at WSVN as a weekend evening meteorologist.
Some of his notable weather coverages include the “Indy 500” Tornado Outbreak of 2004 and Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Both events earned him respect for his impact on highlighting what nature is capable of. He is also a former host of Children’s Miracle Network Telethon and has donated his time to the Make a Wish Foundation. Cameron is an avid animal lover and has worked with the Humane Society on various events.
You can always see Brent’s weather forecasts on weekend evenings on 7 News at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 10:00 pm, and 11:00 pm. He also occasionally fills in for Chief Meteorologist Phil Ferro.
Cameron is a graduate of Ball State University with a major in Telecommunications. At the college, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity as well as the elected Student Body President between 1990-1991. Moreover, he received a degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
