Brett Goldstein Biography
Brett Goldstein is an English actor, comedian, and writer who is best known for writing and starring in the Apple TV+ sports comedy series Ted Lasso. The series premiered in 2020 and his role in the series earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
After graduating from high school, he attended acting classes at the University of Warwick. Goldstein graduated with a degree in Film & Feminism. Later on, he briefly relocated to Marbella, Spain, where he worked in a strip club that his father purchased during a “midlife crisis”. He ended up turning the experience into a stand-up comedy show called “Brett Goldstein Grew Up In A Strip Club”, which was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Brett went on to appear in the Channel 4 comedy Drifters. Furthermore, he appeared in the Channel 4 comedy-drama Derek as Tom. He also wrote The Catherine Tate Live Show with Catherine Tate. Goldstein won the 2016 BIFA for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Brendan in the film Adult Life Skills.
Later in 2018, he began the podcast Film to Be Buried With, feathering guests talking about films that have been important in their lives. He was recently hired by TV producer Bill Lawrence as a writer for the 2020 Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso, starring Jason Sudeikis. Writing on the show led to him being cast as the character of aging footballer Roy Kent.
Later on, he won the Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Comedy Series at the 73 Writers Guild of America Awards. He also received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2021 for his work on the show. Most recently, he signed a multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros.
