Brian Balthazar Biography
Brian Balthazar is a renowned American television host, comic, and executive producer. On camera, he is a regular guest on the Today Show and The Wendy Williams Show, where he appeared as a guest co-host. In addition, Balthazar has appeared as a guest on The Talk, and also as a guest host on Page Six TV and Food Network.
Moreover, behind the scenes, Balthazar started NBC’s fourth hour of the Today Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee and was a co-executive producer of The View. Balthazar spent more than ten years as a network executive at HGTV, where he oversaw such shows as Love It or List It, House Hunters, Flip or Flop, Christina on the Coast, and Flipping 101.
Presently, Brian is the president of Balthazar Entertainment where he creates and executive produces programs for cable and streaming platforms.

Brian Balthazar Career
Brian struggled with his career in the early 1990s, taking various short-lived jobs including that of a publicity assistant for a trance medium, a singing and dancing waiter, and a toll-free customer service agent.
He took an overnight writing job in 1999 at Boston NBC affiliate WHDH in Boston, Massachusetts, writing 20-second news stories. In 2000, Brian got a job at MSNBC as a producer, working out of the network’s then Secaucus, New Jersey headquarters. He became a senior producer in 2001.
After traveling the globe to cover post-9/11 news stories, in 2008, Balthazar quit NBC to supervise various real estate and design shows for HGTV. While there, he oversaw and headed the creative behind several series including Love it Or List It, Flip Or Flop, Christina On The Coast, and more.
Standup Comedy
During his time as a producer, Balthazar joined a standup comedy class as a way of forcing himself to get on stage as a comic. He finally started performing at New York City comedy clubs at night while working as a producer during the day.
While a producer on the Today Show, Brian met and worked with Stacy London, the host of TLC’s What Not to Wear. During that time, she was developing a late-night talk show called Fashionably Late with Stacy London.
At her recommendation, Brian met with the show’s producers and became the show’s warmup comic, tapping various episodes while continuing as a producer at NBC. He went ahead to become the warmup comic for the 2008 season finale of The Next Food Network Star and MTV’s Man and Wife with Fatman Scoop.

In the early times of Brian’s on-camera career, he at times appeared as an offbeat features reporter on both NBC and MSNBC. He was an on-the-street satirical correspondent for the 2004 Democratic National Convention for Countdown with Keith Olbermann 2004. In addition, in 2006, for the Today Show, Balthazar profiled Joan Rivers, taking her on a series of online dates. He made multiple other appearances, mainly in taped segments, during 2006 and 2007.
In 2009, Brian began a pop culture website called POP Goes The Week. As the site’s editor, he started appearing as a panelist on The Joy Behar Show and Showbiz Tonight. He regularly returns to MSNBC as a guest entertainment reporter, and occasionally appears on The Wendy Williams Show in the program’s ‘Scoop’ segment. He was frequently featured on the weekend edition of the Today Show.
Moreover, Brian has appeared on The Dr. Oz Show as an on-the-street and undercover reporter and appears as a comic on TV Guide Network entertainment specials. In 2012, he hosted the HGTV television special I Bought A Famous House. He was named as one of the top 50 influential LGBT personalities in media.
Additionally, in January 2018, he got positive reviews as one of the co-hosts of HGTV’s Rose Parade coverage. While there, he worked as the streetside reporter giving an up-close view of the parade floats and personalities.
While working at HGTV, Balthazar involved his knowledge of home renovation and his personal passion for design. He started flipping and renovating homes, which were then featured when he was the co-host of the fourth hour of the Today Show.

Having worked for a couple of years in food retail and catering Brian started sharing most of his cocktail and food recipes on social media and the websites, DrThirsty and Snackist. Since then, he became one of the faces teaching live classes on the Food Network Kitchen App. The app allows viewers to cook alongside chefs and cooks in real-time, asking questions and interacting with them.
