Brian Curtis Biography
Brian Curtis is an American journalist who currently works as a co-anchor at NBC5. He co-anchors the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts from Monday through Friday. Prior to this, Curtis worked as a news anchor and reporter at KCTV/KSMO from March 1995 to December 2002. He also worked as a news anchor and reporter at WBRC-FOX6 News.
Brian is a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford. Later on, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Emory University. He also graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a Master of Arts degree.
Most notably, he joined NBC5 in 2003 as a general assignment reporter and worked his way up to the anchor desk. Curtis was a panelist at the 2014 Texas gubernatorial debates. He also covered the Olympics in Pyeongchang, Rio, London, Beijing, Torino, and Athens, as well as the Super Bowl and the World Series.
Curtis is passionate about NBC5’s “Clear The Shelters” project, which finds homes for animals in DFT-area shelters. He has covered major stories that hit the headlines. Some of the major news stories that he has covered on NBC5 are the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, the tornado outbreak of 2012; and the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia.
He has been a journalist with 25 years of experience in local television news. Currently, he co-anchors NBC5 News at 6 pm and 10 pm.
