Briana Whitney Biography
Briana Whitney is a renowned American Emmy-Award-winning journalist currently working as the nightside reporter on weekdays, turning stories for the 9 and 10 pm newscasts. She joined Arizona’s Family in February 2018 and has so far earned two Associated Press Awards plus a half-hour special nomination from Emmy on the topic of child pornography.
A North Carolina native, Briana worked at KII-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas for three years before coming to Phoenix. She is a proud graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she received a degree in broadcast journalism.

Whitney further questioned the City about why the claim was denied when his type of cancer was covered under state law. Her reporting led the City to overturn the denial, and the firefighter got the help he needs for the rest of his life.
In addition, Briana’s reporting partially on long-form crime stories, diving deep into high-profile cases, many that are unsolved, to uncover new evidence and details. During her service in South Texas, Whitney reported on several national stories. Notably, she reported on the 2015 Wimberley floods, reporting for eight hours off the Gulf of Mexico during Hurricane Harvey in August of 2017, and reporting from the church shooting in Sutherland Springs in November of 2017.
Her reporting in Texas earned her two Associated Press Awards, and an Emmy nomination for a half-hour special she wrote, produced and hosted on the issue of child pornography.
