Brittany Bell is an American Meteorologist who is currently working as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist at WTVD ABC11, in Durham, North Carolina. Bell joins ABC11 from WAPT in Jackson Mississippi. At WAPT, she earned her CMB Seal from the American Meteorological Society. In addition, she received an award from the Mississippi Associated Press for being the best weathercaster.
Her love for weather started when she was a kid and this love grew stronger in 1998 when she witnessed the Nashville F3 tornado. Bell was at school when the tornado struck only a few miles distant. She was also motivated by the calm manner of the TV meteorologist when severe weather struck.
Following her formal credentials, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Mississippi State University with a 4.0 GPA in three years. During her studies at the university, she was chosen to participate in the storm chase team of Mississippi State’s Great Plains. Bell took a few weeks tracking storms in a tornado alley.
After graduating, Bell began working at KHOG/KHBS in Fayetteville. She then moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she worked at WAPT, and eventually moved to WTVD ABC11, in Durham, North Carolina, the United States of America.
