Calvin Hughes is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist, reporter, and anchor currently working as a newscaster and co-anchor of WPLG Local 10 News at 4,5,6, and 11 pm in Miami, Florida. In mid-2010 Hughes moved from the morning and noontime anchor position to a nighttime co-anchor position. Calvin joined Local 10 News in late 2006 from KYW-TV, the CBS station based in Philadelphia where he had been since 2003.

His career has brought in opportunities to serve as a news anchor and reporter in three of the nation’s top 10 media markets, including Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Dallas. He reported from Lexington, Ky, Evansville, Ind, and Columbia, Missouri. where he started his career at the age of 19.
Hughes and his family did not relent to delve into the deeply diverse neighborhoods of South Florida when he joined WPLG Local 10 News. He tirelessly looked for the opportunity to report comprehensively on Haiti in 2008 after reporting on a story about Haitian refugees who risked, in some cases, losing their lives on a deadly voyage set for the shores of Miami. Afterward, Hughes was well-suited to be one of Port-au-first Prince’s journalists to cover the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the region.
His passion and love for the people of Haiti led him to return to the country more than a dozen times. Notably, Calvin was voted Miami’s best TV N=news anchor in 2011 by The Miami New Times, noting that he professionally covered the Haiti earthquake.

In September 2015, Calvin had several days of live reporting on Pope Francis’ historic trip to three cities in Cuba.
In February 2016, Calvin returned to Port-au-Prince for an exclusive interview with Haiti’s outgoing President Michel Martelly in his final hours. The following month, he reported on President Barack Obama’s historic trip to Cuba.
