Candiace Dillard Bassett Biography
Candiace Dillard Bassett is an American singer-songwriter, actress, businessman and reality TV personality who rose to fame for starring on Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP). She also gained national recognition for competing and winning the Miss United States pageant back in 2013. Dillard joined RHOP in 2018 after completing her era as Miss United States and representing District Columbia in various campaigns and campaign productions. Her other most famous and prominent appearances are in We Go Deep (2021) and Water in a Broken Glass (2018).
Dillard was born and brought up in a middle-class African-American family living in Atlanta from Biloxi, Mississippi. She grew up in a family of physicians who are academic scholars and achievers. Therefore, Dillard graduated with A-level honors from a private high school. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and communications from Howard University in Washington DC. In 2020, Dillard announced on RHOP that she will go back to Howard University to receive her Masters’ degree. In 2022, she graduated with her Master of Business Administration degree from Howard University.
After college, Candiace began her career by working in the White House Offices of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs which were under President Barack Obama during that time. She also spent several years working as a staff member for President Barack Obama’s re-election back in 2012. In 2013, Dillard left the White House and began competing in many beauty pageant competitions like the National American Miss, National American Coed Georgia, Miss American Coed pageant, Miss United States, Miss District Columbia and Sunburst. Fortunately, she won the Miss United States pageants and the District Columbia Crown. Bassett went on to represent the United States in the Miss World Beauty Pageant and did various campaigns in her new role as Miss United States until it ended in 2017.
In 2018, Candace decided to be a Housewife and join the cast members of Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives of Potomac during its third season. The show followed her life and even documented her magnificent wedding in 2019. She was then charged with Second-degree assault allegations with co-star Monique Samuels after they fought during the show’s fifth season. As of 2023, Dillard is a cast member of RHOP’s eight seasons.
