Chad Myers Biography
Chad Myers is a well-known Peabody Award-winning meteorologist who is currently working as the weather anchor for CNN. He also provided reports on weather trends across the United States and Canada on a daily basis. Moreover, Myer joined the network in October 1999 after moving from WXYZ-TV in Detroit where he worked as the morning weather analyst. He also holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.
Chad is also a native of Buffalo, New York, United States, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in meteorology from the University of Nebraska. While still serving there Myer also worked as the morning and noon meteorologist at WTVR in Richmond. Before Chad joined WSYX-TV, he served as the weekend meteorologist for ABC affiliate KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City. At WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio, Myer worked there for three years as the chief meteorologist and anchor from 5p.m to 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Afterward, he joined WXYZ-TV in Detroit as a meteorologist for the morning and noon news broadcast. In October 1999, he left the station and joined CNN as a meteorologist and weather expert. Myers claimed in an on-air interview in 2010 that climatologists were only reporting the climate is changing because their jobs were at stake and that “they worked for the government”.
In addition, he was the subject of a segment on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, HBO’s popular satirical news show, entitled “CNN Weatherman Chad Myers Hates His Job. Throughout his career, Chad has received Peabody Awards for contributing to the Gulf War coverage, and for scientific explanations of the BP oil spill. He also covered major stories like the capping in the Gulf of Mexico, the 2011 Japan tsunami, and the nuclear meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi reactors.
