Charley Belcher Biography
Charley Belcher is an American three-time Emmy award-winning feature reporter currently working for Fox 13 News in Tampa Bay. Belcher’s stories air Monday through Frida mornings on Good Day Tampa Bay segment called “Charley’s World.”
Charley was born and raised in Ft. Myers and grew up in the Tampa Bay area, specifically Pasco County. He then joined Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina where he received his degree in broadcasting.
Before moving to the Sunshine State, Charley worked as a reporter at WIVK radio and WATE-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee. He returned to his hometown and joined FOX 13 in January of 1998.
Charley has won three Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards for his feature reporting during his service. His first Emmy was for a series of feature reports following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the NFC Championship game in St. Louis in 2000.
Belcher’s second Emmy was in 2015 after profiling famous photographer Bud Lee. And his third Emmy was awarded for a feature story he did on a butterfly farmer in St. Petersburg.
Belcher is an avid sports lover who always roots for the local teams; the Bulls, the Bolts, the Rays, and, of course, the Bucs!
