Charlie Cox is an English Actor who rose to fame for his Mat Murdock/Daredevil role on several Marvel TV shows and movies like Daredevil (2015 to 2018) and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (since 2022). He is also known for playing Owen Sleater in HBO’s TV series called Boardwalk Empire (2011 to 2012), The Theory of Everything and RTE’s drama series called Kin. Cox’s other famous roles in Sasanova, Stardust (2007), The Knot (2019), Spider-Man No Way Home (2021), Treason and Big Guy (2008).
Cox was born and raised in the suburbs of East Sussex, London, England. He attended two private schools one at Ashdown House School and Sherborne School in Sherborne Dorset. Cox then attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre arts and acting.
Cox made his acting debut when he was eighteen years old by starring in a psychological thriller called Dor the i. He played this role just one year before joining Theatre School. After graduation, Cox starred in a BBC sci-fi film called Andromeda (2006) and a 2005 historical drama film called Casanova (2005).
He then had more roles in Stardust, The Lover/The Collection and Stone of Destiny. In 2014 Cox gained national recognition and landed his breakthrough as Matt Murdock and Daredevil on Marcel’s TV series Daredevil. He has also reprised his Marvel Daredevil role in various Marvel superheroes TV series like She Hulk-Attorney at Law and The Defenders.
