Charlie Shortino is an American meteorologist currently working as a chief meteorologist and morning host at Weather Net WMTV, NBC 15, based in Madison, Wisconsin. Shortino has been forecasting the weather on television since 1994. Moreover, he has been an NBC 15 morning meteorologist since 1994 and became a chief meteorologist in 2010.
In addition to his weather reports, Shortino owns and operates WeatherNet, Inc., a weather consulting business. The company serves a lot of clients including Madison Gas and Electric, Alliant Energy, the City of Madison, various construction companies, school districts, and as well as municipalities. Moreover, he has also served as an expert witness in weather-related civil and criminal cases.
Shortino attended and graduated in 1988 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology. Luckily, after graduating, he joined the Air Force and became a pilot before returning to Madison in 1990.
Moreover, during Charlie’s free time, he enjoys going to golf as a fan and also playing, cooking, reading, gardening, and watching sports. Due to his love of gardening, he has become a budding pumpkin grower. He started growing pumpkins in his backyard with his longtime friend Clint. However, the pumpkin has been donated to the Bruce Company for the annual Harvest Festival.
