Chike Biography

Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka also known by his stage name Chike is a Nigerian famous singer, songwriter, and actor. He become recognized after participating in MTN Project Fame and the season 1 edition of The Voice Nigeria, where he emerged in second place. Osebuka is one of the Afro-R&B artists making Big waves in the music industry. Prior, he received four nominations at the 2022 Headies Awards.

Ezekpeazu is a native of Onitsha, Anambra State in Nigeria, and completed his high school study at a local school in his hometown. Later on, he attended Covenant University where he graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering. Chike was inspired to become a musician as he comes from a musician-talented family. He began singing in 2009 and got involved in various competitions which helped in grooming his talent. While at high school he emerged as the winner of the best vocalist in a competition.

After that, Ezekpeazu was involved in Project Fame West Africa and made it to the top 10 before he was eliminated in that round. Thereafter, he took part as a contestant in the Voice of Nigeria where he was chosen as one of the participants. While there he joined team Patoranking and in the first round, he sang the song “Let Me Love Your” with another partner from his team and was picked for the next round.

In the first week, Chike sang an emotional song called ” Not the Girl” from co-coach Dare Art and obtained the first save from his coach. He melted people’s hearts in the second week after he sang ” Earned It” from The Weeknd and was saved by public vote. In addition to that, Chike gained popularity with a hearth- felt rendition of ”I’m Gonna Be from The Proclaimer where he received his coach’s final save. In the semi-final, he went on to sing “Pullover” by Kcee and Wizkid.

Moreover, in the finale, Osebuka sang “No Woman No Cry” by Bob Marley and Kiss Daniel’s ” Mama” by the Wailers. He finished as the runner-up of The Voice Nigeria season, with A’rese from Team Waje coming in first place. After that, Chike was signed to Universal Republic along with the other top four contestants on the show. In 2016, he released his first single Fancy U under Universal Republic and its video music was released the following year. While still there, he was an ambassador for Airtel Nigeria along with the other seven finalists of The Voice Nigeria.

Furthermore, Ezekpeazu made his first debut in April 2017 playing the role of Mayowa Badmus in the TV drama Battleground. That same year, he left the Universal Republic and become an Independent artist. Prior to that, Chike released his next single, titled “Beautiful People,”. Two years later, he released his 14-track album called Boo of the Booless in a guest performance on the 2020 Big Brother Lockdown TV show. Aside from that, his album Boo of the Booless won the Album of the Year, at the City People Music Awards. He was also nominated thrice for Best Vocal Performance, Best R&B Album, and Album of the Year. In 2022, he also released his second studio album titled “The Brother’s Keeper”
