Chip Caray Biography
Chip Caray is an American journalist who is currently working as a broadcaster for Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast. He covers the Atlanta Braves baseball and Southeastern Conference basketball. Caray also appears occasionally as a radio broadcaster and co-host of the pre-game and post-game shows on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
Born in Missouri, Caray attended Parkway West High School. After here, he attended and graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1987 from the University of Georgia. His career began at a local television station based in Panama City, Florida.
He gained popularity when he was a broadcaster for the Fox Saturday Game of the Week and as the television play-by-play broadcaster for the Chicago Cubs. Following his formal credentials, he graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Journalism in 1987. Prior to his tenure with Fox, he worked with local television stations in Panama City, and Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was also the play-by-play broadcaster for the Orlando Magic of the NBA from 1989 to 1998. After the 1994 season, he was expected to sign with St. Louis but instead chose to remain with Seattle. In 1996, he was a broadcaster for the first edition of Major League Baseball on Fox 1996.
On the final day of the 2004 season, he announced that he had signed a long-term contract with both TBS and Clear Channel. At TBS he worked alongside his father broadcasting for the Atlanta Braves. However, on November 30, 2009, he left TBS for a position in FOX Sports South. He joined FOC Sports Sout on December 21, 2009, as their play-by-play announcer for all 105 Brave games and basketball.
