Chris Bath is an Australian journalist, radio, and television presenter, and news anchor. She is currently working as a presenter for Network 10 since 2018 after replacing Natarsha Belling. Christine is also an actress, who is known for acting in films like The Man Who Sued God (2001), Open Water 3: Cage Dive (2017), and All Saints.
Bath was born in Auburn in Sydney’s western suburbs and raised in South Wentworthville. She attended Holroyd High School. After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Sydney University where she studied English, psychology, German, and legal institutions for two months before leaving. She started working at a restaurant in Surry Hills. Thereafter, Chris became a trainee manager at Kmart, Merrylands but later she resigned after some disagreement with the owner.
Chris began her journalism career at Sydney’s Radio 2UE after completing a Communications degree at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst. She stayed at 2UE for over a year before moving to regional television at Prime in Albury, where she worked as a reporter and presenter. In 1991, NBN Television in Newcastle approached Chris to anchor its evening news, making her one of Australia’s youngest presenters on metropolitan television. Chris remained at NBN for five years before joining Seven News in Sydney in 1996.
Moreover, she co-hosted the 6 am news bulletin with Peter FordIn. Bath is also the host of the network’s Sunday morning political interview show, Face to Face, and presenter of Seven’s Late News. Similarly, she served as a host at 11 AM, presenting the afternoon news updates, and recording the news bulletin shown on Ansett flights. Chris joined the Witness team, traveling around the world as one of its correspondents in 1998. After taking a well-earned break in Italy, Chris returned to Late News in January 1999. The following year, Chris was part of Seven’s host team for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
She also co-hosted the prelude to the Opening Ceremony live on stage at the Olympic stadium, while seven months pregnant with her first child, Darcy. After giving birth to her son, she returned as presenter of Sunday Sunrise. There she served for three years. In addition, Chris also co-hosted the network’s Federal Election coverage on 10 November. Bath began presenting Seven Morning News in 2004, where she replaced Chris Reason. The following year, she was a contestant in the third Australian series of Dancing with the Stars alongside professional dance partner Trenton Shipley.
At the end of the competition, Chris finished second to Home and Away actor Ada Nicodemou for the title of Dancing with the Stars Champion. Prior to this, she presented Seven News Sydney until the end of 2005. She also presented the summer breakfast show on Sydney radio station WSFM 101.7. Apart from her journalism career, Chris has appeared in a reality series for the Seven Network titled You’ve Got The Job. From 2015 to 2016, she made regular appearances on Network Ten shows Studio 10 and The Project.
Bath was also a regular co-host of The Sunday Project alongside Hamish Macdonald. In 2018, she joined Network 10 to present 10 News the First Weekend, replacing Natarsha Belling. Moreover, she hosted Evenings on ABC Radio Sydney across New South Wales and the ACT from 2017, replacing Christine Anu. While there Bath did relief work on ABC News NSW for some hosts throughout her three-year tenure. She also narrated the six-part documentary series Keeping Australia Safe for ABC TV. She resigned from ABC Radio at the end of 2019. Chris is also Celebrity Ambassador for the Petrea King Quest for Life Foundation
