Chris Cristi Biography
Chris Cristi is an American journalist currently working as the evening AIR7 HD helicopter reporter for ABC 7 Eyewitness News since joining the station in 2014. Since then, Chris has been enjoying a bird’s eye view of Southern California while reporting breaking news.
Born and raised in Florida, Cristi attended the University of Central Florida where she graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Liberal studies in 2013. While still in college, Chris served as a news assistant at WPLG in Miami, News Assignment Desk Editor at WFTV in Orlando, Florida, and Monorail pilot for Walt Disney Work.
From 2001 to 2003, Chris worked at NASA as a co-op at the Kennedy Space Center press site. During his work during the tragic Space Shuttle Columbia disaster in 2003, Cristi went on to launch his helicopter reporting career at the FOX affiliate in Orlando, WOFL.

Moreover, Chris served as an airborne news and traffic reporter at Metro Networks Orlando. In 2004, he joined WTVJ, the NBC affiliate in Miami as a news assignment desk editor and also worked for Westwood One in Miami as a News reporter and assistant director of Operations. After spending a year at the stations, Chris moved to CBS News to work as a helicopter photojournalist, special assignment. In 2005, as Hurricane Rita ravaged the Texas coastline, Cristi flew on special assignment for CBS News and chronicled the catastrophe as an airborne photojournalist.
In 2005, Cristi landed a new job as a helicopter reporter of Fox 5 WNYW-TV in New york. At the station, he reported over historic moments such as the 2005 MTA subway strike and the US Airways flight 1549 “Miracle on the Hudson.” After spending 5 years at Fox 5, he moved to join KCBS-TV in Los Angeles as a freelance helicopter reporter. At the same time, Chris worked for NBC 4 News as the station’s breaking news reporter.
Cristi had his last stint before ABC 7 News as a SkyFox News and weather reporter in Los Angeles, California between September 2016 and August 2018. In 2016, Chris received a Radio and Television News Association Golden Mike Award for his live coverage reporting over the Cajon Pass brush fire, which consumed an entire stretch of freeway traffic.
