Jeff Smith is an American meteorologist currently working for Channel 7 Eyewitness News on weekends at 5.00 p.m., 6.00 p.m., and 11.00 p.m. Before joining ABC 7 News, Jeff worked as a meteorologist at WTEN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Albany, New York.
Smith is a native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, where the extreme weather in New England sparked his interest in meteorology at an early age. He went on to follow his dream at Cornell University where he majored in Atmospheric Science. At the Institution, Jeff broadcasted live weather forecasts for Newswatch 16, he student-run television station nearly Ithaca College.
In 2007, Jeff joined the Eyewitness News Team 2007 after serving as a meteorologist at WTEN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Albany, New York. Previously, he worked as a Cheif Meteorologist at WOAY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Oak Hill, West Virginia.
Smith has earned the American Meteorological Society’s prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation, professional recognition of the quality of his weather forecasts.
