Christie Diez is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist who presently works for WXIA-TV 11 Alive in Atlanta as a weekend morning anchor and reporter. She’s also the brains behind the weekly show “Behind the Headline.” Diez is an Emmy Award-winning reporter at Atlanta’s WXIA-TV 11Alive, where she hosts the morning show, Morning Rush. She formerly worked as an anchor and reporter at WRDW in Augusta, Georgia, before joining 11Alive.
Diez was a crucial component of the program that won an Emmy in 2018 for Best Morning Newscast for a two-hour coverage of Hurricane Michael as it approached the Gulf of Mexico. For two hours, she was the only live reporter in Panama City Beach. She offered minute-by-minute reports on live evacuation orders, sirens, and rising waves during the Gulf’s only Category 5 hurricane. When the weather grew too dangerous to broadcast, she was live streaming from her phone. She provided updates on social media as the roof of the hotel where she was taking refuge began to rip off.
Christie has also been in the middle of another hurricane. She was the only live reporter broadcasting from Tybee Island as Hurricane Irma slammed into Georgia’s coast. In addition, she joined the 11Alive team in July 2017 and has established herself as a multi-talented journalist who finds, writes, photographs, and edits all of her own articles.

Christi graduated from Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, the University of Georgia in 2012 with a degree in digital and broadcast journalism.
