Cindy Hsu Biography
Cindy Hsu is a Chinese American television news reporter and anchors at WCBS-TV in New York City. Currently, she works as an anchor on CBS 2 News at 9 am, and also as a fill-in & substitute anchor.
She was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She attended Virginia Tech where she graduated with a degree in communication. She began her broadcasting career as an associate producer for WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia. Moreover, Hsu worked as a reporter and anchor at WFRV-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and for WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio. She joined WCBS-TV in 1993 as a reporter. Later after, Hsu was promoted to weekend co-anchor as well as morning co-anchor in July 1996. That same year, she also worked as a noon co-anchor for WCBS-TV.
Prior to that, Cindy served as President of the New York Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association. Also, she has paddled for years on a championship Dragon Boating team called Women in Canoe. Aside from that, Hsu has worked with several organizations like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Humane Society of New York, The Children’s Miracle Network, and the Museum of Chinese in America.
Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards including the New York AP Broadcasters Award for Best Feature on her personal adoption story, ‘Bringing Rosie Home’ for which she was nominated for an Emmy. Cindy has also worked with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and is strongly involved in the Asian-American community. Besides being a well-known journalist, Hsu is also the author of the famous book titled Bringing Rosie Home.
