Conan Nolan Biography
Conan Nolan is an American journalist who is currently working as a political reporter for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. He is also the host of the station’s News Conference program, one of the nation’s longest local political and public affairs shows.
Most notably, his first full-time broadcasting position was at KVEC-AM radio in San Luis Obispo. While there, he served as the Assistant News Director but left the station two years later. Following his departure from KVEC-AM, he moved to KSBY-TV first as a weekday reporter and weekend sports anchor. Later on, he moved to KSBW-TV in Salinas.
In July 1986, he was hired by KNBC-TV. Throughout his career, he has covered numerous fires, floods, earthquakes, police chases, and riots. In 1989, reported live for NBC News from Candlestick Park. Furthermore, in 1992, he broke the investigation into singer Michael Jackson by the Los Angeles Police Department, and in 1994, he reported live during the police pursuit while driving in the front of O.J. Simson’s white Ford Bronco.
He has also reported from Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom; Pakistan during the war in Afganistan. In addition, he has reported from Rome, Tel Aviv, Mexico City, and many other states. Throughout his career, he has received many awards. He has a Golden Mic Award for a story chronicling the plight of Afghan refugee children along the Pakistan frontier and has a regional Emmy Award for a series on the small South Pacific island of Tuvalu in its struggle against global warming. Nolan was also selected in 2010 as the television “Journalist of the Year” for the Los Angeles chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
