Cory Reppenhagen Biography
Cory Reppenhagen is an American meteorologist currently working as a reporter at 9 News in Denver, Colorado. Before joining 9News, he was working at WFTV-9 as a reporter.
In 2001, Cory moved to Wichita, Kansas. He saw his first Kansas supercell thunderstorm come marching across the plains while he was working for KAKE-10. Immediately, he was hooked on severe weather and storm chasing. Cory moved to Florida after covering several tornadoes and numerous weather outbreaks and experiencing some tropical storms.
Cory covered his first four hurricanes in 2004, including Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne, and in 2005 it was hurricanes Dennis, Katrina, Ophelia, Rita, and Wilma. While working at WFTV-9 in Florida, Reppenhagen decided o strengthen his weather knowledge and got his Bachelor of Science in Geoscience in 2010. Therefore, his job focus switched from photographing the news to forecasting and reporting on the weather as a meteorologist.
Additionally, Cory spent ten years at WFTV in Orlando, covering 14 hurricanes and 4 named tropical storms. Luckily, he won a Suncoast Regional Emmy award for his coverage of the April 2011 tornado super outbreak across the state of Alabama.

Reppenhagen graduated in 1992 from Manitou Springs High School. Before going to college right away, he gained two valuable life experiences. The first one was a trip to Australia to play baseball with a team representing Colorado. Secondly, Cory worked at Keystone Resort for around two years, where he took care of the ice rink and registered more than 100 hits on his ski pass.
Fortunately, he decided to go back to school and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication in 1999 from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado. Luckily, while he was still studying, he got his first jobs at KJCT-8 and KKCO-11. He also studied for a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from Mississippi State’s distance learning program in 2010.
