Courtney Jorgensen Biography
Courtney Jorgensen is an American meteorologist currently serving as a meteorologist at WNDU-TV, Communications Coordinator, and $5K Director at Girls on the Run Michiana. She joined the station in December of 2017. Jorgensen has spent her whole life in Michigan and Indiana, living in Michiana since 2005.
In his senior year in high school, Courtney was crowned Michigan’s Junior Miss in 1999, giving her the chance to travel around the state and compete in America’s Junior Miss. Jorgensen attended Wayne Memorial High School, where she graduated as valedictorian in 1999.
Later on, she joined the prestigious University of Michigan, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science in 2003. In addition, Courtney received a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science in 2004.
During her tenure there, Jorgensen served as President of the Society of Women Engineers and Chief Weather Forecaster for WOLV-TV, a student-run television station.
Courtney has wanted to be a meteorologist since childhood. At the age of seven, she was setting up a video recorder in the living room and using a hairbrush as a microphone to report the weather. She remembers seeing a funnel cloud nearby when she was a child.
Jorgensen was the only member of her family to find shelter in an interior hallway while the other family starred in wonder at the sky. She was aware of Mother Nature’s power and the significance of telling life-saving stories with others at a tender age.

In addition, Jorgensen was the second-ever intern employed at WXYZ-TV in Detroit, MI. At that time, she spent two years as the Associate Weather Producer for her mentors, Paul Gross and Chuck Gaidica.
However, after her graduation, Courtney took a break from the weather to work in corporate America before shifting to her other passion, non-profit work. Moreover, in 2011, Jorgensen returned to the green screen as the Weekend Meteorologist at WSJV-TV in Elkhart, Indiana. She worked there until the summer of 2016.
Additionally, Courtney serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator and 5K Director for Girls on the Run Michiana. She is dedicated to their mission of inspiring young girls in the community to be cheerful, healthy, and self-confident.
