Cris Collinsworth, a former professional American football player, is an American sports broadcaster. For eight seasons, all with the Cincinnati Bengals during the 1980s, he was a wide receiver in the National Football League.

Cris attended Astronaut High School when it came to information about his educational background. There, his father was the principal. He began playing high school football and was an All-American high school football quarterback. He is also the Class 3A 100-yard-dash Florida High School Athletic Association state champion for the 1976 Astronaut War Eagles.

After his completion of high school, he enrolled and attended the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship. Collinsworth graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 1991.

Collinsworth was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Abraham Lincoln “Abe” Collinsworth and Donetta Browning Collinsworth. He is the son of Abraham Lincoln “Abe” Collinsworth (who was born on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday) and Donetta Browning Collinsworth. In high school, Abe was known as “Lincoln” and was a member of the Kentucky Wildcats’ “Fiddling Five,” which won the 1958 national championship. Cris’s parents were both educators: Donetta was a teacher, and Abe was a high school teacher and coach who went on to become a principal and then the Brevard County Superintendent of Schools.

Cris and his younger brother Greg relocated from Ohio to Melbourne, Florida, with his family in 1963, when Cris was four years old. In 1972, the family relocated to Titusville, where he and his brother attended Astronaut High School, where their father served as the principal. Cris was a multi-sport star with the Astronaut War Eagles, winning the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A 100-yard dash state championship and was selected a high school All-American quarterback during his senior year in 1976.

  • Cris Collinsworth entered the 1981 NFL Draft.  He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft. Chris spent his entire eight-year NFL career with the Bengals.
  • His turnover in the second quarter against San Francisco lost the Super Bowl XVI to the Bengals. In 1985, he signed with the United States Football League’s Tampa Bay Bandits. However, after he missed the physical due to a weak ankle, his contract was annulled.
  • He went back to the Bengals. During his NFL career, in 1981, 1983, 1985, and 1986, he reached 1,000 yards receiving four times. He concluded his eight-season NFL career with 417 catches in 107 games for 6,698 yards and 36 touchdowns.
  • He was named to the Pro Bowl three times, in 1981, 1982, and 1983. The 1988 season saw Collinsworth retire. After retirement, he initiated his broadcasting career. He is a sports radio talk show host for WLW in Cincinnati. Chris then became a reporter in 1989 for HBO’s Inside the NFL. He became associated with the NBC network’s NFL broadcasts in 1990.

  • In 1998, NBC lost its broadcasting rights to CBS. He joined the NFL on Team Fox, then. Then he joined the NFL’s Fox unit.
