DaLaun Dillard Biography
DaLaun Dillard is an American broadcast journalist currently working as a News Anchor for WEWS News based in Cleveland, Ohio since 2021. Prior to his work at WEWS news, Dillard spent around two to three years working as a news reporter and anchor for KETV News Watch 7 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has won the Regional Murrow award for the best breaking news coverage of local protests and the murder of George Floyd back in 2020 while he was still working for KETV News
DaLaun was born and brought up in Battle Creek, Michigan by a middle-class African-American family. He grew up as a very active child who developed a passion for journalism at a very young age. Dillard also loved watching various films like The Nutty Professor, Hiden Figures and more while he was growing up. He finished his high school and middle school studies in his hometown. From there, Dillard attended and graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with a major in Cinema Arts. He even worked as the UCTV Production manager and staff reporter for Central Michigan University until his graduation
Dillard then made his official broadcasting debut as a multimedia journalist for News Central 34 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 2014. He then joined The Nexstar Media Group as a News Assistant who handled desk papers by distributing various stories to different reporters. In December 2017, Dillard was promoted to news anchor and reporter for the KETV NewsChannel 7 in Omaha.
There he was able to cover various stories like the Black Lives Matters protest that happened in the United States after the death of George Flyod among other stories. He also worked as an intern for WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan before joining WEWS News 7. Delaurn was the one who replaced Frank Willey in 2021 and he left WEWS for greener pastures in Tampa, Florida.
