Dan Matics is an American journalist from West Virginia who currently serves as a reporter for FOX 13 News. He joined the station in September of 2016 with a basis of covering the city of St. Petersburg and Pinellas County, the most densely populated county in Florida.
Matics loves sharing stories that assist victims of violent crimes, hold those in power responsible, and the more extraordinary stories known to spark a conversation.
Prior to joining FOX 13, Dan served as a weekday morning anchor and reporter for WCHS-TV in Charleston, West Virginia. He began his career in 2010 as a reporter and producer for WOWK-TV in Huntington, West Virginia while attending Marshall University.
Most of his notable stories include coverage of tornadoes and hurricanes, the chemical spill that polluted the water supply for 300,000 people in West Virginia, the Seminole Heights serial killer, and also exposing the carelessness of a Southern West Virginia health clinic that infected patients by reusing needles.
In 2015, Dan won the Best Anchor from W.Va. Broadcasters Association. Similarly, in 2016, Matics also won the Best Investigative Reporter from W.Va. Broadcasters Association.
