Dana Tyler is a renowned American news anchor and reporter currently working at WCBS-TV in New York City. She anchors the 6 p.m. newscast. She joined the station on July 16, 1990. In addition, she hosts Eye on New York, a half-hour weekly community affairs program for WCBS, and several annual local specials: CBS 2 at the Met, CBS 2 at Tony’s, and Tunnel to Towers Run.
Tyler began her career as an intern at WBNS-TV Channel 10 in Columbus and was later promoted to the role of a reporter in 1981. In 1987, the station acquired its first satellite truck, and Dana, together with co-host Dave Kaylor, launched a statewide show called Heart of Ohio.
Moreover, Dana later won an Emmy for her work on the show, and, in 1986, she became a co-anchor of the station’s evening newscasts.
Dana later moved to New York, and in June 1990, to WCBS-TV as a weekend anchor and reporter. Alongside Reggie Harris, she was part of the first African-American team in the New York market to anchor a newscast.
In 1993, she moved up to the 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts. At WCBS-TV, Dana has worked alongside other well-known television news anchors in New York City, including Brian Williams, Jim Jensen, John Johnson, Ernie Anastos, Ira Joe Fisher, Michele Marsh, and Roz Abrams.

Besides, she also worked alongside Don Dahler, Chris Wragge, and Stephen Clark. Tyler remained in her post through a major staff reduction in November 1996, when several of the station’s on-air personalities, including Harris, Marsh, and Johnson, were fired.
Moreover, Dana returned as the anchor on WCBS’s 11 p.m. newscast, and similarly, to her 6 p.m. duties, together with Jim Rosenfield, on April 17, 2006, as part of a shakeup in anchors where no one stayed in their old capacity.
