Danielle Wiggins Biography
Danielle Wiggins is an American journalist working as a morning traffic anchor and reporter of the Live on Lakeside news segment at WKYC. She joined the station in October 2015 as a rising co-creator and host in Cleveland, Ohio. She took up this role until Jun 2017. Formerly, she served as an executive producer at Vision Ideal Media in Ohio from 2006 to 2015.
Wiggins is also a multi-platform anchor for the Go! morning show and anchors the 4:30 am half hour. Also, she reports traffic and trending news. She also contributed to enterprise reports of different newscasts and hosted digital content on the station’s multiple online platforms. Wiggins also served as the host, co-creator, and producer of WKYC’s ‘Rising’ initiative.
Talking about her achievements, she was awarded a regional Emmy award and a salute to Excellence award by the National Association of Black Journalists. She was awarded this due to the ‘Rising’ episode that told the story of a teen who was born with cerebral palsy but still pursued her dream of playing basketball.
Danielle has served as the main producer and correspondent for the ‘Regina Brent Show’ on WKSU 89.7. Under her leadership, this show won multiple state and national awards including Ohio Excellence in Journalism award for the best radio show. Later, she began her career as a paid intern for NPR’s afternoon magazine show called ‘All Things Considered’. Danielle is currently a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Talking about her education, she attended a local high school and earned her high school diploma. Later on, she joined Kent State University where she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in broadcast journalism. Moreover, she attended the same university for her master’s and earned her master’s degree in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management.
