David Shuster Biography
David Shuster is an American journalist who most recently worked as a principal anchor and managing editor for i24NEWS. Prior to this, he worked as an anchor for MSNBC and worked for Fox News, CNN, Current TV, The Young Turks, and Al Jazeera America.
His high-profile career at MSNBC included anchoring prime-time breaking news coverage of the death of Michael Jackson, and the deadly earthquake in Haiti, among other stories. After MSNBC, he was hired to serve as the “primary substitute anchor” for Current TV’s re-launch of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. In January 2012, he began hosting his own syndicated political talk radio show.
Born in Bloomington, Indiana, David graduated in 1985 from Bloomington High School South. Later on, he joined the University of Michigan. He also earned a Master’s in Public Policy at Georgetown University.
Following his graduation, he began his career at CNN’s Washington, DC. He was assigned editor and field producer from 1990-1994. During this time, he covered both the Persian Gulf War and the 1992 presidential election campaign. After departing from the station, he joined ABC affiliate KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas where he worked as a political reporter. During this time, he led KATV’s coverage of the indictment, trial, conviction, and resignation of Arkansas Governor Jim Guy Tucker.
At KATV, he won a regional Emmy Award for investigative journalism. Most notably, in 2020, he began appearing as a regular contributor to Rebel HQ. Rebel HQ is a Youtube channel that is part of The Young Turks’ network.
