Delnaaz Irani is an Australian journalist who works as an anchor of Deeper Look from New York on NHK World-Japan based in the United States. Irani is also a host on the Australian ABC lifestyle show Escape From The City. She serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for World Vision Australia. Formerly, she worked as a business and finance anchor on the ABC News morning show News Breakfast in Australia.
Irani was born in Mumbai, India, and grew up on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, where she completed her primary and secondary education. She graduated with a double degree from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), which is a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Del also furthered her studies at the University of California, Berkeley on an abroad scholarship.
Del started her career in journalism as a field producer, traveling and living in many different countries including Bermuda, Panama, Belgium, and Dubai. Additionally, she was appointed Mumbai correspondent for BBC World News and became the presenter of the India Business Report. During her time at the BBC, she was known as Delnaaz Irani and provided live coverage of breaking stories, including the trial of the lone surviving gunman in the 2008 Mumbai Terror attacks.
